Augusta had been employed at a couple of different restaurants and also did some work at the Cherry Plant. She also lived in the Upper Pennisula and had been employed as a housekeeper cleaning cabins when she lived there. She enjoyed scratch off tickets and going to the dollar store. She also loved her pet dogs, Dottie and Chloe.

Survivors include 1 son, Norman & Alice Elya and grandson Denver of Lake City; 1 daughter, Bernice Elya of Merritt and grandson Corey Roerink of Alabama; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Ray Malzer of Kalkaska; special friends, Russell Ashley of Harrietta and Renee Sutphen of Irons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Frieda; and husbands, Ernest in 1973 and Arthur in 2001; 4 brothers, Art, Jim, Hank, and 3 sisters, Gloria, Lou and stillborn sister.
A private family service was held at a later date.
Memorial contributions were to be directed to Mercy Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice.
