Gladys Juanita (Bond) Hodges, 92, of Chesnee, South Carolina, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011.
A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of the late James Leonard Hodges and the daughter of the late Homer Adam Bond and Gladys Louisa (Lovelace) Bond.
She retired from Chesnee Elementary School where she served as a school teacher and librarian for 32 years.
Mrs. Hodges was an artist, a gardener, a teacher, a lover of God and her fellow man, and a true cat lover.
She was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church for over 80 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher for several different classes.
She is survived by one son, James Leonard Hodges, Jr. and wife, Jo Ann of Spartanburg; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dr. John Homer Hodges and one brother, Cecil Bond.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 am at Springhill Memorial Gardens with Dr. Gary Grogan and the Rev. Dale Welch officiating. The family received friends after the service at the cemetery. Interment was at a later date.
