Michel Sherlon Johnson

Michel Sherlon Johnson, age 64, passed peacefully to the Lord in his home Monday, September 26, 2011 in Odessa. Mike was born September 19, 1947 in Lubbock, Texas, to Iver L and Clarice Johnson. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and his parents. Mike was married to Sandra Johnson for 38 years. They raised four children.
Mike served honorably in the Army during the Vietnam War. He faithfully served churches of West Texas and Washington State as Pastor, Music Minister, and Interim Pastor. He was currently serving as Pastor of Caprock Baptist Church here in Odessa.
Mike's life was characterized by selfless service to God, his country, church, and family. Those left to follow his example are his wife, Sandie Johnson of Odessa, daughters Ivy Roberts of Abilene, Lee Baird and husband Matt of Haltom City, Ana Good and husband Jeremy of Houston, and Andre Johnson who is serving in the Navy. Mike had 10 grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Home Hospice of Odessa for their years of service to the Johnson family and their attentive care during this difficult time.
Visitation with the family will be 6-8 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2011
at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Crescent Park Baptist Church with Dr. David Miller and Rev. Matt Baird officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Caprock Baptist Church or Crescent Park Baptist Church.
