Services for George L. Allcorn, 72, of Brownwood will be at 2 p.m. Monnday at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stan Allcorn and the Rev. Gary Mauldin officiating; Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

He died at 8:35 p.m. Friday at a local nursing home.

Mr. Allcomwas a rural mailcarriier and public school administrator who had lived most of his life in Brown County, and had lived in Brownwood since 1953. He was
married to Mary Jo Coffey in Brownwood on Aug. 3, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, where he achieved the rank of Major, and was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, Lions Club, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, and Disabled American Veterans.

He was past president of the Brownwood Independent School District board of trustees and past president of the Texas Rural Letter Carriers Association. He completed work for his degree at Daniel Baker College in 3 1/2 years, and earned distinguished honors from the Daniel Baker alumni.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Connie Trietsch of Amarillo; one son, Billy Jack Allcorn of Brownwood; three grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
