Alexander Zell Bolen was born September 23, 1815, in what is now Lawrence County, Ohio. Lawrence County was formed from Gallia County in 1816. Alexander Bolen married May 18, 1837 in Scioto County, Ohio, Lydia Fout (sister of William Fout who married Sally Bolen, Alexander Bolen's sister). (30) Lydia Fout Bolen died March 26, 1861, probably in Byhalia, Union County, Ohio. Where she was buried is unknown. On December 11, 1861, Alexander Bolen married Mary Pugh, born 1816. Mary was known as mother Mary and she never had any children of her own, but was truly a wonderful mother to her step-children (5) Mary (Pugh) Bolen died in 1886. Mary Pugh Bolen's tombstone is in Knox (East Crown Hill Cemetery, 32 yards north of the southern East/West Road, 5 yards (1st row) west of eastern North/South road, seen 25 June 1989), Starke County, Indiana, and the dates on the tombstone are 1816-1886. In Logan County, Ohio, on April 22, 1888, Alexander Bolen married for a third time to Mrs. Anna Elizabeth (Weatherby) Sharp. (27)(56) Anna Elizabeth Weatherby was born October 3, 1817 and died March 3, 1903. Alexander Bolen died September 20, 1901 in Logan County, Ohio. Alexander Bolen is buried in the East Liberty Cemetery, East Liberty, Perry Township, Logan County, Ohio. Alexander's 3rd wife is buried as Anna Sharp just east of Alexander Bolen's stone.
