William Bolen, Formerly Resided Near Byhalia; Dies at Daughter's Home January 9 1945 - William Bolen, 92, of Hardin County's oldest residents who lived in Kenton for the past three months died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Wolfe, of 339 South Leighton Street. His death came Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. His death was attributed to pneumonia and had been in failing health for the last year. He was in serious condition for the past ten days. The deceased was born in Logan County on May 9, 1852 and practically lived his lifetime in Byhalia community. He was a carpenter by occupation. William was a carpenter and did many other things of which he was very good and meticulous at. He made beautiful gun stocks, loved hunting, was a good marksman, great at trap shooting. He sharpened skates, all types of saws, knives, and scissors. He would make handles for hammers, axes, and etc. William always cut all the firewood for the entire year, most of the time he walked three miles to the woods where he would stock it until the snow would come. He had very good health, worked hard, but paced himself, wasn't a person to worry, didn't want much and never asked for much. He came down with pneumonia two weeks before he died and was 93 years old. Besides many friends he leaves, the following relatives: his wife, Myrtle; four sons, Arthur of LaRue, Jesse of Columbus, Clarence of Fostoria and Zack of Bellefontaine; five daughters, Mrs. Robert Wolfe and Mrs. Harlow Clapsaddle, both of Kenton, Mrs. Carl Ramsey of Massillon, Mrs. Brayton Coons of Broadway, Mrs. Ward McCarty of Worthington; and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday 1:30 p.m. at the Schindewolf funeral home. Burial will be in Byhalia cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home where friends may call.
