Agnes Rudisill "Sing" Boddie, 89, of Raleigh, died Friday, February 15, 2008, after a long illness at Stewart Health Center of Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack G. B. Boddie, of Raleigh, the former owner of Jack Boddie & Associates, and her son, John H. Boddie, of Greensboro.

Sing was born in 1918 in Greenwood, S.C., the daughter of Oscar Rudisill and Agnes Rudisill. She graduated from Lander University, received an M.A. from UNC-Chapel Hill, and taught English and French for 17 years in the public schools of Mebane, Lillington and Goldsboro in North Carolina, and Florence, S.C. Until her illness she was an active member of Highland United Methodist Church, where she served on the administrative board and was a life member of the UMW.

Sing is a member of the Samuel Johnston Chapter of the DAR and the Sir Walter Raleigh Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century. Sing loved literature and poetry, and belonged to the Stratford Book Club and Readers Book Club, as well as the Evergreen Garden Club. She served on the board of the Triangle Reading Service for the Visually Impaired. She and Jack were charter members of the Capital City Club. She enjoyed many bridge games with her friends and dancing with the Club XVII.

A memorial service will be Monday, February 18, at 2pm at Highland United Methodist Church, corner of Ridge Road and Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh. The family will receive visitors after the service at the church. There will be a private interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.

The family requests donations be sent in lieu of flowers to the charity of their choice or to the Triangle Radio Reading Service, 211 E. Six Forks Road, Suite 103, Raleigh, NC 27609; or the Endowment Fund at Springmoor Retirement Community, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
