Isabel Mary Wendt of Moscow died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Aspen Park Healthcare in Moscow. She was 85.

Isabel was born February 28, 1925, in Hibbing, Minnesota to Bert Zimmerman and Louise (LeFebvre) Zimmerman. She grew up and attended school there.

On June 30, 1943, she married George R. Wendt in Minneapolis. They made their home in Bemidji, MN where they had an orchestra, he playing the accordion and she the guitar. They played at barn dances and clubs in Minnesota. During their time in Bemidji, they had five children before moving to Pasco in 1961.

Another son was born to them in Pasco and Mr. Wendt worked with his brother in an auto salvage yard. In 1963 the family moved to Moscow when Mr. Wendt purchased Moscow Auto Wrecking, which he operated from 1963 until his death in March of 1972.

Isabel raised the family, enjoying gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, and traveling. She went to work as a baker at Washington State University, retiring from there after 14 years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Short's Funeral Chapel, Moscow.
