Bessie Angus Tomlin, 87, of Madison Heights, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday February 17, 2006, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Claudie Vaughan Tomlin.

Born May 8, 1918, in Lowesville, she was a daughter of the late John Beureguard and Mary Pearl Campbell Angus.

She was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Tucker, Marion, Morris, John "JB", Rawley, and Massie; five sisters, Mae Wright, Annie Campbell, Saphronia Maddox, Susie Dalton, and Elizabeth Maddox; and one granddaughter Cynthia Dawn Cash.

Mrs. Tomlin is survived by four daughters, Mabel T. Wood and her husband, "Spicky" of Piney River, Minnie T. Bailey of Amherst, Vernie T. Wood and her husband, Fred of Lowesville, and Juanita T. Cash of Madison Heights; one son, Marion V. Tomlin and his wife, Stephanie, also of Madison Heights; one sister, Eva A. Bowling of Amherst; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1pm Monday, February 20, 2006 at Whitten Monelison
Chapel by Pastor J. D. Surbaugh, Jr. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery.
