Susan Goodwin Pate, 61, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday in Independence Chapel at Greenwood Mausoleum. Susan was born Oct. 24, 1949, in Fredericksburg to Raymond and Nelda Goodwin. She was the second of their four daughters. Susan graduated from Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth and attended Texas Tech University. Susan was a gifted artist, specializing in oil paintings. She was a member of the Jewel Charity Ball and The Fort Worth Woman's Club where she made many friends over the years and enjoyed putting her creative talents to use with her group, Venture. She was a gracious hostess and took great pride in making sure those who entered her home and were in her presence felt welcome. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Goodwin.
Survivors: Mother, Nelda Goodwin; son, Chris Pate and wife, Rikki; sisters, Linda Parish and husband, Gerry, Jan Gudbjartsson and husband, Steve, Tammy Harris and husband, Tim; beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Carson and Cameron Pate; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
