Laura Rebecca Armstrong Jefcoats, 80, of Soso, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Care Center of Laurel.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Gitano United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Union Line Cemetery in Jones County. A special friend, Rev. David Slaughter will officiate. The body will be placed in the church at 1 pm Wednesday.

Mrs. Jefcoats had a B.S. degree in nursing from William Carey and worked at South Central Regional Medical Center prior to retirement. She was a member of Gitano United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell (Vendell) Jefcoats; son, Dr. Gary Jefcoats; parents, Walter Louis Armstrong and Ina Laura Murray Armstrong; and brother, Louis Armstrong, and sisters, Dorothy Gaye Armstrong Baugh and Marie Armstrong.

Survivors include her son, Roger Jefcoats of Soso; 2 daughters, Pamela Griffin and husband Lee Vance Griffin of Knoxville, TN and Karen Blackledge and husband Keith Blackledge of Moss; daughter-in-law, Judy Wiggins Jefcoats of Columbia; grandchildren, Scott Jefcoats, Gary Jefcoats, II, Grant Jefcoats, Whitney Williamson and husband Matthew Williamson, Nathaniel Blackledge, Sonya Blackledge, Heather Rowe, and Cory Rowe; four great grandchildren, Brian Blackledge, Bella Williamson, Carter Rowe and Catherine Rowe; brothers, Jimmy Armstrong and wife Jeanette of Ellisville and John Armstrong of San Diego, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Gary Jefcoats, Grant Jefcoats, Scott Jefcoats, Keith Armstrong, Nate Blackledge and Todd Shows.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 pm Tuesday, September 27 at Memory Chapel of Laurel which is in charge of the arrangements.
