Claudia V. Cole, 73, of Effingham, IL died at 12:15 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham, IL.
Claudia was born January 11, 1937 in Caseyville, IL the daughter of Elmer and Edna (Harrison) Alexander. She married Ray Cole on May 28, 1954 in Sparta, IL. He preceded her in death June 29, 1989.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Effingham; Effingham County Genealogical Society; and Zonta Club of Effingham. She was employed for thirty years at the Heartville Public Water District, Effingham.
In addition to the unselfish love and devotion to her family, she spent her time endlessly helping others. Her welcoming smile and warm outreach to everyone will be missed by all those who knew her.
Survivors include daughter, Paula Rae Johnson; son, Ray Cole; grandchildren, Jeremy Hubbard, Aimee Steele, Amanda Norris, Annie Lowery, Julia Poulter, and Alicia Barrett; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Laila Arnold, Marianna Martin; Edna Franklin, and Verna Rieckenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Funeral services were held at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, IL with Rev. David Mc Connell officiating.
Burial was in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham, IL.
