"The LaFayette Sun" - February 11, 1953:

Miss Mollie Cobb Looks Back on 96.

A young girl seven or eight years old heard the news that the Yankees had invaded West Point, Ga., while attending the funeral of an uncle near Cusseta. She was Mollie Cobb, who on January 5, celebrated her 96th birthday. She lives with her cousin Mrs. J.W. Landrum on LaFayette Route 4, about three miles from Antioch Church.
The daughter of David Barrow Cobb, Miss Mollie was born near Cusseta in 1857, not far from Beulah Church. She isn't too sure now whether it was Lee or Chambers County. In fact, Lee County didn't exist in those days, or if it did it wasn't very old. (NOTE: Lee County was created in 1866.) Her father fought with the Confederate Army all through the war, and later moved his family to the Rock Spring Community. She was about 18 at that time. Having joined the Cusseta Baptist Church, she moved her letter to Rock Spring and has been a member there ever since. "I sometimes get blue because I am not able to get back to Rock Spring very often," she told us. She does go to Antioch occasionally, and while she loves the people of Antioch, "Rock Spring is still home," she admits. She is the church's oldest member.
Miss Mollie has always enjoyed very good health. Right now she wears glasses only when reading, and she can read for hours at a time without getting tired. She gets around fine for her 96 years. "I would be fine if my hearing was just a little better," she says. You have to talk pretty loud to Miss Mollie, but she gets what you are saying without too much trouble.
An only child, Miss Cobb lived with her mother at Rock Spring until her death in *1931, when she went to live with the Landrums. She also stays some with Mr. and Mrs. Audrey Sanders of LaFayette Route 4. Mr. Sanders is another cousin.
The writer left Miss Mollie after wrangling an invitation to her 100th birthday party. She made us feel good when as we went out the door she said "I read every issue of The Sun and enjoy it much." The trials and tribulations of newspapering seemed less as we rode back to town.

*Tombstone has 1921 and is verified by obituary.
