Aaron was the eighth child of Enoch and Elizabeth Chamberlin. He married Catherine Viles ~ the daughter of Joseph Viles ~ on 21 May 1829 in Fayette, New York.
On 6 June 1834 he bought 160 acres in Frenchtown Township, Monroe County, Michigan. He sold the land to Samuel Knight of Fayette, New York on 12 December 1838. Sometime after 1838 they left the state of Michigan and moved westward to St. Joseph, Missouri. In April 1844 they met up with another family, crossed the Missouri River, joined a wagon train and started the long trip across the plains with 5 small children. They were nine months traveling before they reached Oregon.
Aaron settled in Saver, Polk County, Oregon in 1845, where he had a 640 aacre farm.
Aaron was in (Senora?) Mexico, visiting his son, Joseph, at the time of his death. He had comsumption (tuberculosis) and was hoping to recover his health. Before he left he willed his farm to his wife. Catherine sold half to of the farm and left the other half to her son Enoch.
Seventy-four years later Enoch was still living there.
Aaron and Catherine had six children. In Aaron's probate all of his children are listed, along with their ages and places of residence.
Children of Aaron and Catherine: 1)Andrew J., 2)Joseph, 3) Catherine Elizabeth, 4)Sarah Ann 5) Aaron C.,and 6) Enoch.
** Point of interest: Sarah married Joseph L. Coombs. He was a physician and was a surgeon at Fort Hoskins, commanded by Lt. Phil Sheridan. After this time he served in the Civil War.
