Emma Ann Swall was the daughter of Mathias and Elizabeth Swall. She married Bryant Gulley about 1869 in Santa Clara Co., California, where her first child James Mathias Gulley was born. Before 1872, Emma and Bryant settled on a homestead along the Tule river, in Tulare, Co., where they had four more children. Only James Mathias, Nancy, and Chester lived to be adults. Two of her babies died as infants. Later when Emma died she was buried next to her two babies. In 1929 when her husband, Bryant Gulley died he was buried next to Emma. They are all buried in a very peaceul area, in unmarked graves just a short distant North of the Cemetery office building in the CITY section.
