Joe Vervie O'Dell, 71, of St. Elmo died at 8:40 pm, Sunday Nov. 12, 1995, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care Center, Vandalia.
Funeral services will be at 11 am, Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Elmo. Burial with military rites will be in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery, Altamont. visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wed. at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with Rosary at 6 pm. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. O'Dell was born June 1, 1924, in Yale, the son of John R and Stella Mae (Bauhm)(not correct) O'Dell. He married Theresa Mersman in 1978. She survives.
He was retired from NuWay Dry Cleaning in Casey and Casey High School. Mr. O'Dell was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Elmo, and a past member of Casey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Other survivors include one daughter, Marlene Davidson of Martinsville; two brothers, Darrel of Hot Springs, Ark, and Don of Yale; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
