John Biddle Marsden, aged and well known resident of Roaring Spring for many years and for the past few years residing in Martinsburg.
died there at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning of Complications following an illness of one year.
Mr. Marsden, a native of East Sharpesburg, was born on Sept. 27, 1849 a son of William and Louise Marsden, both deceased.
He spent his boyhood days in that vicinity and later engaged in farming and a number of years ago retired and moved to Roaring Spring where for many years he was employed in the blank book factory. Later, he retired and went to Martinsburg to reside at the Old Folkes home where he spent the past eleven years.
He was united in marriage sixty one years ago with Miss Hannah Cartwright of Martinsburg and to this union nine children were born, who survive as follows: Harry Marsden of 4219 Fifth avenue, Altoona: Howard Marsden of Roaring Spring, W.O. Marsden of Cleveland, O., Ida Keller of Huntingdon, William Marsden of 1514 Fourth street, Altoona, May Welrick of Hollidaysburg, Etta Zeigler of St. Clairsville, Roy Marsden of 415 Cherry Street, Roaring Spring and Pearl Ainsworth of East Juniata and sixteen grandchildren, Mrs. Marsden preceded him to the grave a number of years ago.
He was a life long member of the Bare Memorial Church of God at Roaring Spring.
The remains were taken to the funeral parlors of Grant Hite and Sons in Roaring Spring and were later removed to the home of his son Roy Marsden, 415 Cherry Street, where funeral sevices were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock: Interment was made in Greenlawn cemetery, Roaring Spring.
