Richard S. Bergdall, 50, of Meno, died early Wednesday morning in a Sulphur veterans' hospital following a period of ill health.
A native of Meno, Bergdall lived his entire life in that community with the exception of time spent overseas during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal for injuries suffered at Iwo Jima.
Bergdall is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Harry Eck and Mrs. Mae Cochran, Meno; four brothers, Omar and Harold Bergdall, Meno, Ray Bergdall, Winfield, KS, and Calvin Bergdall, Enid.
His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2pm Saturday in the chapel of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Meno under the direction of Henninger-Allen. Rev. Montie Jones will be the officiating minister.
