PLAINFIELD -- Ruth Elizabeth (Burdick) Thatcher, 91, of South Central Street, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday at the home of her daughter, Beverly Andrews, in Florence. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Clara (Golusha) Burdick.
She was born September 4, 1915 in Troy, N.Y. She was the widow of Floyd E. Thatcher and had been married for 61 years at the time of his death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Floyd E. Thatcher Jr.; two sisters and three brothers. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son; two other daughters; three sisters; three brothers; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be Friday, December 29th at 2 p.m. at Hilltop Cemetery, Plainfield. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Plainfield Fire Department or to the Shaw Memorial Library. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pease and Gay Funeral Home of Northampton.
