Eleanor L. Blakely, of Valparaiso, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005 at her residence. She was 67.

She was born Dec. 13, 1937 in Porter, the daughter of Fernandis and Clara (Hall) Babcock, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was married to Richard J. Blakely, who preceded her in death May 2, 1994.

She is survived by four sons, Allen (Kim) Blakely of Portage, Mark Blakely of Valparaiso, David (Mary) Blakely of Orlando, Fla. and Jeffery Blakely of Valparaiso; three daughters, Karen (Ron) Kirk of Portage, Donna Lucy (Pat) Kekelik of Valparaiso and Clara Blakely of Valparaiso; two brothers, David (Shirley) Babcock of Porter, Chuck (Doris) Babcock of Portage; two sisters, Coleen (Kenny) Peting of Texas and Arla Slater of Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Betty Babcock; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas, Kelly, Jessica, Michael, Donald, Haley, Tyler, Richard, Ryan, Brian, Dustin and Ronnie; one great-grandchild, Sebastian and special friend, Deloris Jackson of South Haven.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Blakely in 1973 and a sister, Marion Barney and a brother, Nelson Babcock.

Eleanor was a life long resident and was retired from Portage Twp. Schools, where she was employed as a secretary. She was a member of South Haven Homeowners Association.

A funeral service, Rev. Britt Leslie officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.

Interment will be at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton.
