David was born in Porter, IN, on March 28, 1941, to Fernandis and Clara (Hall) Babcock.
David worked in construction and retired from IMS Local #150. He was a member of Local #150 retirees club. David was a former Councilman for the Porter Town Board in 2008. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Babcock; his children, Tony (Kelly) Babcock of Naples, FL, Debbie (Harry) Lowenthal of Westville, IN and Mike (Natalie) Babcock of Porter, IN; brother, Charles (Doris) Babcock of Portage, IN; sisters, Colleen (Kenny) Peting of Baytown, TX, and Arla (Harry) Schnafit of Arizona; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Nelson Babcock and sisters, Marian Barney and Eleanor Blakely.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. until the 6:00 p.m., with a time of family sharing beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.
