FRANK FRETTER, GMI RETIREE DIES AT 64

Frank R. Fretter, a retiree from General Motors Institute who was widely known in gun collecting circles, died Tuesday in Hurley Hospital.

Mr. Fretter, 64 of 3156 E. Maple Grand Blanc Twp, was a native of Bowling Green, Ohio.

He retired in 1972 as a shop layout man at GMI after working there for 31 years, starting in 1941 as a production supervisor.

Known for his expertise on antique and muzzle-loading guns, Mr. Fretter was a life member of the Patch and Ball club of Flint and belonged to several other antique gun collector and shooting clubs.

He leaves his wife, Edna; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Morley, Flushing, ; two brothers, Arthur, Saginaw, and Harry, Grand Blanc; five grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Fox, Saginaw and Mrs. Florence Mecum of Glenwood, Ark.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Emanual Lutheran Church with burial in Flint Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Hill Funeral Home, Grand Blanc.

McClellan with the Rev. Donald Krause officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Mr. Fretter will be at the Hill Funeral Home, Grand Blanc until 1 p.m. Friday. Contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Mr. Fretter was born in Bowling Green, Ohio on February 22, 1910. He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, charter member of the Flint Patch and Ball Gun Club and various Antique Collector Clubs. He retired May, 1972, from GMI after 31 years service. Surviving are: Wife, Edna, daughter Mrs. Donald (Mary Jane) Morley of Flushing: 5 grandchildren, Ronald Diane, Karen, Dan and Eric all of Flushing; 2 brothers, Arthur of Saginaw, Harry of Grand Blanc; 2 sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Fox of Saginaw, Mrs. Florence Mecum of Glenwood, Arkansas. Arrangements by the Hill Funeral Home, Grand Blanc.
