Jacob Sanford Miser was born Aug. 12, 1869 in Platte, Mo., the son of William and Eva Miser. On Oct. 28, 1903 he was married to Mary Ellen McIntyre, and moved to Centralia, Kans., in 1904. To this union were born ten children. Three passed away in infancy and one son, Rollin M. was killed in action in France on June 13, 1944.
Mr. Miser and family came to the Onaga community 25 years ago. Mrs. Miser preceded her husband in death on Jan. 30, 1940. Mr. Miser passed away after a lingering illness of several years at the home of his daughter, Eva Allen in Duluth, on April 12, 1947 at the age of 77 years and 8 months.
He leaves to mourn, 3 sons and 3 daughters: Raymond of Ogden, Utah, Roy and John of Rawlins, Wyo., Eva Allen of Duluth, Thelma Conaway and Dorothy Andrick of Onaga; 6 grandchildren and one brother, Jess Miser, of Branson, Mo. Four brothers and one sister have preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Tessendorf Chapel Tuesday afternoon with Rev. G. B. Nelson of the Cavalry Baptist church, officiating. Kenneth Bureman, accompanied by Mrs. Nelson, sang "Life's Railway to Heaven" and "There's No Disappointment in Heaven." Casket bearers were Roy Dodds, Herb Winan, Wm. Grafton, Lester Brimer, Jas. Martin and Geo. Brunkow. Interment was in Centralia cemetery.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Miser of Ogden, Utah: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Miser and John Miser, of Rawlins, Wyo.; Mrs. Grace Riley of Gardner, Kans.; and Miss Catherine McIntyre of Kansas City, Mo.
