OBITUARY
Lemuel King, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs Elias King, was born in Marshall county, Ind., Sept. 13, 1863 and died of typhoid fever in Garfield, Wash., on Aug. 20, 1910 at the age of 46 years, 11 months and 1 day. He removed with his parents to Missouri in the year 1871, thence to Marshall county, Kansas in 1885 and resided here until about three years ago, when he went to Norton county and resided until last spring when he went to Washington to spend the summer.
On March 11, 1887 he was married to Miss Anna Wilcox of this place and to theis union a son and daughter were born. The daughter is married and lives in Norton county. The son is in Washington and is jut recovering from attack of the typhoid.
Mr. King was a member of the I. O. O. F. and M. W. A. orders. Ove twenty years ago he united with M.E. Church and died in the faith of his beloved zion. The body was brought to Beattie for burial. The funeral services wer held in the M. E. Church on Tuesday afternoon, Aug 23. Besides the son and daughter, the deceased is survived by his father and mother , five brothers and three sisters. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their loved one.
**Both Lemuel and his wife Annie obituaries report the year of their marriage as 1887. However there a newspaper article as well as their marriage license that reports the year of marriage as 1888. They would have two children and then sometime before 1900 Lemuel is raising their children with the help of his grandmother Marilla Mann. Annie is in the hospital for the rest of her life.
