Mr. McKern was born May 13, 1933, in Jerome, Iowa. He grew up in Mystic, Iowa and graduated from high school there. On July 5, 1952, he married "Pat" Edalyna A. Seddon in Mystic. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2009.
He retired from Oscar Mayer after thirty years of service, was a loyal member of Meatcutters Local 431, and was later employed by Roemer Machine and Welding. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and going fishing.
Survivors include children Susan (Jon) Yocum and Peggy McKern of Davenport and David (Karen) McKern of Winona, Minn.; grandchildren, Timothy McKern and Christina Lester, both of Davenport, Dallas and Kayton McKern both of Winona, and Kayla and Kyle Yocum, both of Davenport; and great-grandchildren, Maleiki, Alexis and Angel.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister, and an infant daughter, Kay Ann.
