She was born in the Town of Belgium on September 2, 1926, daughter of Nic and Elizabeth Keller Arendt.
On October 29, 1949 she married Fred Hagel at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. The couple made their home in rural Random Lake, raising eight children.
Gladys was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish. She enjoyed raising her family, gardening, canning, sewing and baking.
She is survived by her eight children, Jane (Ron) Rollinger of Port Washington, Bill (Sharon) Hagel of Random Lake, Mary (Dave) Hausner of Random Lake, Thomas (Sherrie) Hagel of Random Lake, Steve (Beverly) Hagel of Random Lake, Laurie (Brett) Schulz of Adell, Patty (Joe) Hicks of Random Lake, and Karen (Keith) Sagal of Adell. She is further survived by 21 grandchildren, Melissa, Brian and Michael Rollinger, Melissa (Joe) Morano, Ben and Katie Hagel, Julie, Corey and Kevin (Adrienne), Erica, Nick and Nathan Hausner, Erin (Steven) Belongie, Luke (Jennifer) Hagel, Annie and Kelly Schulz, Brianna, Gabriella and Joe Jr. (Katie) Hicks, Amanda (fianc? Ryan Erickson) Sagal and Jacob Sagal, 10 great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Sara, Lucas, David, Maryanna, Shaelyn, Patrick, Giada, Isabella and Ellyjah, two brothers, Vern (Myra) Arendt of Port Washington, and Robert (Helen) Arendt of Shawano, and sister, Louise Buser of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Donald and Orville and one sister, Emily Schueller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Mary's Chapel in Random Lake. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Dacada.
