She was the daughter of William Steele McFadden and Alcy Ann Murray McFadden. She married Shelby Sproles Steele on June 28, 1906 in Fayette Co, TN. She and Shelby had a son; William Shelby Steele; who was born in 1907 and died the same year.

Graveside services for Mrs. Blanche McFadden Steele. 101, widow of Shelby S. Steele, who died Wednesday at Golden Age Nursing Home, were at 2 p.m. today at Odd Fellow Cemetery. Mrs. Steele was active in many church and civic activities, and was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. E Stitt Mathews and a brother, Dr. Samuel Edgar McFadden, all of Somerville, Tenn. Wilson and Knight Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
