Son of Nathan Alexander and Alice Virginia Blume-Cravey he grew up in the West Hamilton Community with six siblings. He enlisted in 1939 and took his basic training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. On June 6, 1942 Sergeant Cravey married Miss Fay Fulp in Guilford, North Carolina and was killed in a training accident in Muskogee, Oklahoma two months later on his 25th birthday. He rests in the West Hamilton Cemetery, Shelbyville, Texas.
