Martha, 66, LaBelle, died Sunday at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital where she had been a patient for several weeks. Death resulted from a complication of ailments.
Martha was born Oct. 23, 1894 at LaBelle, the daughter of David and Martha Harrop Hutchens. He mother died when she was 10 years old and she raised her younger sister, Alice, and kept house for her father until her marriage. He died shortly after her marriage and her sister, Alice Grover, died several years ago. Her marriage to Frank Lowder, also a son of a pioneer family, took place at Rigby, Oct. 12, 1912, and later this marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple.
She had resided in LaBelle during a lifetime, taking active part in her church and community affairs, holding the longest service record as a Visiting Relief Society Teacher in the LaBelle Ward, where she also served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was devoted to her children and grand children and her home was always the center of hospitality and kindness. Her life had been deeply saddened less than a year ago with the sudden death of her oldest son, Arvel, and a younger son had proceded her in death. She was the last remaining member of the David Hutchens family.
Survivors are her husband, 2 daughters, Verla Hart, Idaho Falls, Lucile (Vernal) Buckland, Rigby, a son , Leslie Lowder, LaBelle, and 9 grandchildren.
