J. Marcellus, of Labelle, died very suddenly Wednesday moring, Jan. 4 at the LDS Hospital, death being due to dropsy. Marcellus had been ailing for the past two months but his condition was not regarded as serious until Tuesday afternoon when he was rushed to the hospital.
Marcellus was born Nov. 4, 1884 in Ogden Utah, the son of David and Martha Harrop Hutchens. He came to Labelle with his parents when a child where he has since resided. He was united in marriage in Jan. 1906 to Maggie Walters, of Rexburg, who survives him together with the following daughters; Gladys Champion, of Portland, Nona, Thelma, and Hazel, who are at home; two sisters, Martha (Frank) Lowder of Labelle and Alice (Ursel) Grover of Rigby.
Marcellus took an active part in the affairs of his home community. He served as superintendent of the Labelle Sunday School for several years. He was also president of the Labelle Canal Company for a time.
Marcellus brother, William Hutchens, died thirteen months ago. The sympathy of the community goes out to bereaved widow and her family.
