Rock Rapids, Iowa - Funeral services wiill be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Reformed Church for John Gorder [sic], 72. He died in a local hospital Monday. Family services will precede the funeral. Burial will be at Doon.
Mr. Gorder was born Oct. 31, 1894, in Sioux County. He married Alice Holtrop Jan. 1, 1918, at Doon. The couple farmed in Sioux and Lyon Counties until 1957 when they retired and moved into Rock Rapids.
He is survived by his widow; five sons, five sons, Fred, Luverne, Minn., Lawrence, Jasper, Minn., Edwin, Midland Park, N.J., and Clarence and Jerald, both of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Mrs. G. J. Kramer, Beaver Creek, Minn., and Mrs. Bert Smidstra, Rock Rapids; 30 grandchildren, and two brothers, Nick of Doon, and William, Rock Rapids.
