"TOM" Jr. Thomas L. "Tom" Spiva Jr., of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at the Wellmont Hospice House. A native of Abingdon, he had lived in the Bristol area most of his life. He was owner and operator of Tom's Refrigeration Service, a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and a member of Central Baptist Church of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Frances Metts Spiva. Survivors include wife, Jerrie Price Spiva; three sons and daughter-in-law, Sammie and Amy Spiva and Dewey Wayne Spiva, all of Bristol, Tenn., and Thomas Ira Spiva; grandson, Cameron Spiva; three sisters, Patsy Worley, North Carolina, Mary "Mert" Keohane, Abingdon and Virginia Powers, Abingdon; two brothers, Charles "Joe" Spiva, Abingdon and Richard Spiva, Bristol, Va.; father and stepmother, Lue and Sue Spiva, Abingdon; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Les Ketron officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Abingdon, with military honors conducted by the VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975. Pallbearers will be Buddy Sims, Michael Keohane, Charles Price, Timmy Price, Robbie Price, Clarence Branson, Bobby Ramsey and Bryan Spiva. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Wellmont Hospice House.
