Edward Curtis is the son of Soloman Curtis and Cloe Eggleston. He was born in Oxford, Chenango, New York about 1803. He lived in Marcellus, Onondaga, New York from about 1807 to 1815.

Edward married Sabria Hubbard in Ohio on 28 Aug 1828 and they had 13 children: Cloe, Jane, Julia, Sophronia, Edward, John, Bildad, Theoda, Elizabeth, Wilber, James, Martha and Drayton.

Edward was a farmer and in 1845 he purchased 49 acres in Lima, Ohio.

In 1850 he and his wife and 8 of his children lived in Riley, Putnam County, Ohio.
