Anna B. Priestley, 81, died at her home in Edna at 6 o'clock Saturday night following an illness of five or six months. She was bom in Elveston, HI, Dec. 1, 1861, and when she waa a small girl her family moved to Buffalo, MO, where she was reared to young womanhood. There she married D. G. Priestley. They came to Harper county, KS, in 1888, and in 1890 moved to the vicinity of Edna. Mr. Priestley died in 1937.
She was baptized in the Mississippi river when she was a girl, as a member of the Methodist church, but 38 years ago transferred her affiliation to the Baptist church here. She was a member of the Edna Royal Neighbors and Rebekah lodges.
Mrs. Priestley is survived by three sons: G. C. Priestley, J. B. Priestley, and Fred M. Priestley; three daughters. Mrs. Oscar Preston, Mrs. Charles Williams, and Miss Mabel D. Ellen Priestley: six brothers, Ben Cozad, Tom Cozad, Harley Cozad, Roy Cozad, Jack Cozad. and Martin V. Cozad: three sisters, Mrs. Miriam Williams, Mrs. Minnie McCoon, and Mr. Mary Gobble, and 14 grandchildren. One daughter died in infancy and a son Roscoe Roy was killed in action in France July 2, 1918.
Burial in the North Edna cemetery.
