William Benjamin Cozad, 81, who for many years lived near Elvaston, died at Augusta Saturday, October 12. He was the son of Benjamin and Sarah Rohrbough Cozad, and was born at Elvaston September 5, 1865.

He was married on September 14, 1894 to Pauline Roasa, who, with an infant son passed away 14 months later. He was married to Elizabeth Luder on April 18, 1898, and she died on November 30, 1929.

About 50 years ago, Mr. Cozad united with the Christian church at Carthage, during a revival meeting held by Billy Sunday. He later transferred his membership to the Christian church in Wyaconda, Mo., where he was a member at the time of his death. He spent most of his life in Hancock county. Some early years were spent in Kansas and Missouri.

He went to Basco to live with a step-daughter, Mrs. Rhetta Snare. Two years ago last April, he became ill and was taken to St. Joseph hospital, Keokuk, Ia., where he remained until a week before his death.

Funeral services were held at the Elvaston Presbyterian church at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, October 16, conducted by Rev. James S. Bryars. Burial was in the Elvaston cemetery.
