Eliphlet was the husband of Tennessee (Points) Collins (1867-1935). They were married on September 6, 1882 in Wayne County, Iowa and together for at least forty years before getting divorced. Eliphlet was the son of Henry B. Collins and Mary Jane (Slavens) Collins and stepson of Rebecca Jane (Rogers) Collins. Eliphlet was the father of seven children with Tennessee. Five of his children, Eddie, Ira, Nellie, Mablee and an infant son all died as infants or children. His two other children, Beulah Colilins and Leo Varner, were adopted.
