He was born June 7, 1951 in Woodville, Texas to parents, James R. and Lorene Dean who preceded him in death along with his grandparents, William Oliver Dean, Mary Jane "Molly" Plaster, James Barnett, and Laura Susann "Katt" Barnett.

The family will welcome family and friends Thursday, September 15, 2011, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Bro. Tim Davis of Bethel Baptist Church will preside over funeral services being held Friday, September 16, 2011 1:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas with graveside services at 4:00 p.m., Camp Ground Cemetery, Woodville, Texas, Friday, September 16, 2011.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Chapman Dean; daughters, Brandi Dean, Dana Fowler and husband, Jimmy, Carrie McGinnis, Shannon Bailey; brother, Russell Dean and wife, Donna; sisters, Janie Haney and husband, Jimmy, Nita Hardin and husband, Kenny, Lisa Dean, and Lavina McCoy; grandchildren, Kristina, Arren, Peter, Chelsea, Mathew, Zachary, Paige, Amanda and Samantha; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family members and treasured friends.
