Mr. Butler was married to Ione Massey of Robstown on 29 May 1932. Their children were Marnette and Roger Ross. He was a practicing attorney in Robstown and Corpus Christi for 55 years. He was a member of the Nueces County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America. He was honored in 1984 by the American Bar Association for 50 years as a practicing attorney. He was an attorney for the City of Robstown for many years and served until his death as Attorney for the Nueces County Drainage Commission.
