Catherine Seibert's birth family lived originally in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Her father received land grants in Centre County in 1785 and also in Berks County. Her brother and sister were kidnapped by Indians in Berks County and returned many years later. Catherine and all of her siblings were confirmed in Christ Lutheran Church. In 1796, her father, Wendell sold his land and moved to West Virginia. Catherine and her brother, Michael Seibert, were the only family members who remained in Berks County.
