George Derrick "Kingfish" Stevens, 93, of Fredericksburg died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Woodmont Center.

He was the son of the late Richard Sydney and Lucy Alexandria Bloxton Stevens. He was also preceded in death by his seven brothers and sisters.

Mr. Stevens was a native of Stafford County and a retired train master at Union Station for Washington Terminal Co. He was a member of Regester Chapel United Methodist Church, Cherrydale Masonic Lodge #42 AF & AM, Frank P. Moncure Masonic Lodge #297 AF & AM, Arlington Royal Arch Chapter #35, Fredericksburg Royal Arch Chapter #23, Fredericksburg and Arlington Commandry #29 Knight Templar, past Grand High Priest and past Grand Commander for the state of Virginia and past Great Excellent Chief Knight Masons of the United States, as well as many other appendent bodies.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Stevens; three children, George D. Stevens Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ann S. Harmon and her husband, William, of Arcadia, Calif., and Sharon Anne Thompson of LaPlata, Md.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Viola Stevens of Stafford; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his first two wives, Georgia Stevens Sauveur and Laura Arber Stevens, and a daughter, Mary Carolyn Painter.

A funeral will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, in Covenant Funeral Service Chapel, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Richard Headley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Regester Chapel cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carl S. Weeks, Thomas K. Staples, Jay L Cotner, Ronnie Stevens, Bruce Painter and Robert B. Bussler.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, at the funeral home. The Rev. M. J. Kim will conduct a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. with a Masonic Memorial Service to follow at 8 p.m.
