Fred Baehler, 64, Dorchester, died of an apparent heart attack on Monday, September 16, 1974 at 6:00 p.m. while working on his farm in the Township of Holton, Marathon Co.

He was working on top of his silo leveling off silage that was being filled from the bottom with a blower, when it was discovered that he was no longer working. A search was conducted and his body was found covered with silage.

Marathon County Coroner Mary Mellif, and the Marathon County Sheriff's Department investigated and stated he died of a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held for Mr. Baehler at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 18 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Dorchester, with Rev. Milton Petzola officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. He will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Medford.

Mr. Baehler was born August 30, 1910 in Medford. He married he former Eleanor Kunz on November 24, 1937 in Chicago. He lived in Holton for the last 27 years, where he was a farmer. He was employed at the Neil Smith Inc. in Dorchester from 1960 – 1972.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Mary Ann) Leuder, Medford and Miss Cheryl Baehler, Abbotsford. He is also survived by four sons: Gilbert, Omaha, Nebraska, Robert, Chicago, James, Ft. Lauderdale, and Donald, Papillion, Nebraska; five brothers: Arthur, Walter and Herman, Great Falls, Montana, Elmer, Sheboygan Falls, and William, Milwaukee; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Hilda) Heff, Word, and Mrs. Harold (Lidia) Clemans, Medford, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.
