Resolutions of Respect
To the master, wardens and brethren of Elk Lodge Number 373 A. F. & A. M.: We your committee appointed to draft resolutions of respect upon the death of Brother H. A. Dobbin, Sr., beg leave to submit the following:
Whereas it has pleased Almighty God, the Supreme Ruler and Architect of the Universe inHiss all wise providence to call our beloved brother from his labors here on earth to the Celestial Lodge above on the 20th day of July, 1903, aged 88 years, and whereas, the Masonic ties which bound us mutually in friendship and enjoyment to our departed friend and brother are severed never more to be reunited in this our terrestrial lodge. Therefore be it,
Resolved. That we sincerely mourn this disruption of covenanted friendship, bearing in tender remembrance his fidelity to MAsonry and principles it inculcates.
Resolved 2, That in the death of Brother Dobbin, Elk lodge has lost a true and faithful member, his family a beloved husband and father, the country a good and quiet citizen, and that we earnestly sympathize with the bereaved family and friends.
Resolved 3rd, That we tender our thanks to the friends of Brother Dobbin who cared for him during his last illness.
Resolved 4; That the members of this Lodge wear the usual badge of mourning for 30 days and that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family and one to the Democrat and Jefferson Recorder for publication and one recorded on the minutes of the Lodge.
