In the 1850 Federal Census, the three year-old William Henry Evans is living with his father John Evans, and mother, Mariah Catherine (Swink) Evans. The census shows he also has a nine year-old sister. They are shown as living in Cherokee County, Texas.

In 1860, the now twelve year-old is still living with his mother and father in Cherokee County.

No record has been found in the 1870 Census. Sometime between 1860 and 1870, according to a bio sketch of the Parmer family, he married Melinda Parmer, who, the bio states, did not live long.

William Henry married, 4 Apr 1872, Sarah Eleanor Harrison, and they had together a child named Mattie Eleanor Evans (born 13 Mar 1873).

William Henry appears again in the 1880 Census, living in the 80 Enummeration District of Johnson County, Texas. That district is described as consisting of all of J.P. No. 1 out of the corporation of Cleburne and N.E. of Cleburne & Weatherford Co. Road & the Cleburne & Grandview Co. Road. This would agree with the location of the cemetery in which William is buried.

In the 1880 Census, William is shown to be a farmer, living with his second wife, Pernecia A (Faulkenbury) Evans, and three daughters born to he and Pernecia, Virginia H Evans (1878), and Ida Evans (1879) and Ada Evans (1879). The record shows Ida and Ada to be twins, only 8 months old at the time of the census. William's first daughter, Mattie Eleanor Evans, is, in 1880, living with John and Mariah Catherine Evans, his father and mother.

William Henry Evans only lived another three years beyond the 1880 Census, and is buried in a family cemetery where his father would be buried in 1886. There is a surviving letter written by William's mother in which she states that he died of "lung fever" 2 Jan 1883. His mother also mentions in the same letter that William's wife, Pernicia, in the short span between Christmas 1882 and February 1883 lost her mother, her father, her husband and her sister.

The cemetery where William was buried was forgotten for many years and its "discovery" was first reported in a July 18, 2010 story written by Matt Smith and published in the Cleburne Times-Review.
