William C. " Bunkie " Mitchell, 82, of Ewing, died at his home July 7, 2011.

He was born in Nicholas County on May 6, 1929. He was the son of the late Elmer Clay and Mabel Hughes Mitchell. William was a retired tobacco farmer and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Darlene Harding) Mitchell of Ewing; and daughters, Arlene (Gerald) Shrout of Ewing, Donna (Jerry) Gulley of Georgetown, Bonnie (Johnny) Gulley of Ewing, Debbie (Randy) Bussell of Ewing, Lori (Mike) Caswell of Flemingsburg; and a step-daughter Peggy Sharon of Carlisle; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

In addition to his parents, Bunkie was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Crawford Mitchell; one daughter, Fredia Mitchell; a brother Elmer " Buddy " Mitchell, and sisters, Evelyn Mitchell, Ardie Ishmael, Jettie Evans and Jennie Gray.

Service were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Cowan. Rev. Jeff Green and Bro. Tommy Fern officiated. Interment was in the Elizaville Cemetery.
