Zeanor Westbay, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Westbay, was born Dec. 2, 1886, near Leavenworth, Indiana, and when he was twelve years of age, he with his mother(his father having passed away 2 years before) came to Kansas where he grew to manhood and engaged in railroad and carpenter work.
..He was united in marriage to Helen Halbert at Norton, Kansas, Feb. 24, 1915, and her death occurred in 1917. The major part of his pilgrimage was in Kansas. The rest of his life was spent in Texas for a period of time, and 11 years at Portland, Oregon. He had been in a state of declining health for the past three years and the last year had resided with his sister, Mrs. Ella White at Phillipsburg, and she with her daughter kindly ministered unto him during his illness, until it became necessary for him to be hospitalized and he was taken to Hadley Memorial Hospital at Hays, where he passed away Nov. 9, 1948, at the age of 61 years, 11 months and 7 days.
..He was preceded in death by his father, Nov. 13, 1886; his mother, Feb. 15, 1923; his brother, Frank, Sept. 10, 1909, and by his wife, in 1917. Those who survive to mourn his passing are two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Hooten, of English, Indiana, Mrs. Ella White, of Phillipsburg; three brothers, J. R., of Denver, Colo., W. D., of Amarillo, Texas, and L. E., of Wadsworth, Kansas; a number of other relatives and many friends.
..Funeral services were held at the Simmons-Olliff Funeral home in Phillipsburg, Saturday, Nov. 13, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. F. M. McDonald in charge. Mrs. Gladys Davis and Mrs. Denzil Hefner sang the funeral hymns with Darrel Dee Olliff accompanist. The flower bearers were Vera Levengood, Grace Smith, Gladys Davis and Denzil Hefner, of Kensington, and Ruth Craig of Phillipsburg. Body bearers were, Roy Barron, Bert Kunze, Harlo Wolfe, Willis Pierce, Milo Levengood and Vicent Dilsaver all of Kensington. Interment was made in the Olive Branch Cemetery.
