Casper Yens, Sr; of rural
Silverwood died Thursday,
September 26, 1991 at the
Lapeer County Medical Care
Facility. He was 69.
Mr. Yens was born June 3,
1922 at North Branch, the
son of Henry and Christina
(Zeier) Yens. He married
Avis Berry on December 27,
1947 at Caro. He had been a
core setter for General
Motors Saginaw Grey Iron
division for 19 years before
retiring in 1968 and was also
a farmer. He was a member
of the St. Paul Lutheran
Church, Mayville. He had
resided at Silverwood for 37
years and formerly lived at
Caro.
Survivors include his wife,
Avis; four sons, Casper Jr.
and wife Rose Ann of
Silverwood, Michael and
wife Karen of Mayville, Gary
McKellar of Caro, and
Robert and wife Sharon of
Saginaw; a daughter, Debra
McPhail of Silverwood; 13
grandchildren; three sisters,
Ann LaPratt and Amelia
(Mrs. William) Nowakowski,
both of Caro, and Elizabeth
Jacques of Mt. Clemons; and
three brothers, Alex of
Kingston, Carl of Silverwood
and Fred of Detroit. He was
predeceased by a grandson,
Ryan, in 1979; and a brother,
Henry, and two sisters,
Christinia Ross and Sophia
Watson.
Funeral services were held
Mon., Sept. 30 at the St. Paul
Lutheran Church. The Rev.
Terry Balogh officiated, with
burial in the Rich Township
Cemetery of Lapeer County.
Arrangements were made by
the Tiffin Funeral Home,
Inc., Mayville.
The family suggests
memorials be made to St.
Paul Lutheran Church.
