He was born June 10, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Henry and Christina (Zier) Yens, and has been a Kingston resident for fifty years. He married Lillian Griffin on October 12, 1940 at Caro and retired from General Motors as a machinist. He loved gardening and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Mayville. He was also a member of U.A.W. Local #653 of Pontiac.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian, of Marlette; two children: Kenneth Lee and wife Cathleen Yens of Liecthfield, Kentucky, and Ralph and wife Diane Yens of Metamora; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother, Carl Yens of Silverwood; and a sister, Millie Novak of Caro. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ernie; three brothers: Henry, Casper, and Fred Yens; and four sisters: Sophia Watson, Christina Ross,. Elizabeth Jacques, and Ann LaPratt.
Family was to receive visitors until 9 p.m., Wednesday, October 17. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m., Thursday, October 3 8 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville. Pastor James Naumann was to officiate, with interment at Rich Township Cemetery, Mayville.
