Kenneth M. Brandau, 79, of 29 Red Cliff Village, Upper Black Eddy, Bucks County, died early Monday morning at Grandview Hospital, Sellersville, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Born in Hazleton, Oct. 11, 1917, he was a son of he late Philip and Matilda (Waldron) Brandau.

Brandau was a 1935 graduate of Hazleton High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and president/director of the band and orchestra. Brandau was active in dramatics and other student organizations.

From 1936 to 1941, Brandau was employed as a salesman and windo trimmer at Hy's Mens Shop in Hazleton. He later was employed at the Hazleton branch of Girard Investment Co., until he was transferred to Bristol as an assistant manager in 1942.

In 1970 he was named regional vice president of the Girard Investment Co.

A former Levittown resident, he was a charter member and served as deacon and elder of Faith Reformed Church in Levittown. Brandau served for two years as president of the Bristol Fish and Game Protective Association. He was also a member of the Long Beach Island Fishing Club.

Brandau was a past president of the Trenton Financial Exchange. He was an organizer and served two terms as president of the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rotary Club. A scholarship fund in his name was established by the Rotary Club to honor his contributions.

He was especially fond of surf casting.

Brandau was founder and former director of the Lower bucks County YMCA.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former Mary Mead, in 1992; twin sisters, Bertha and Maud, in 1918; a sister, Ruth Chatlos; and a brother, Henry.

Surviving are a son, Philip M., Upper Black Eddy; a daughter, Mrs. Richard V. (Bonnie A.) Bergey, Lansdale; a brother, Roy, R.R.3, Wapwallopen; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from Faith Reformed church, Levittown Parkway and Sexton Lane, Levittown. The Rev. Kenneth G. Shields will officiate.

Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Old River Church Cemetery, R.R.3, Wapwallopen. The Rev. Walter Brandau, Cousin of the deceased, will conduct graveside services.
