WEST LIBERTY - David Ray Hoover, 90, of West Liberty, formerly of Pleasant Hill, passed away Monday, Sept. 5,2011, at Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.
He was born June 1, 1921. David was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Martha (Stump) Hoover; beloved wife, Ruth H. (Hilsher) Hoover; and brother, Daniel Hoover.
He is survived by his loving children. Robert and Esther Hoover of West Liberty and Jim and Cathy Hoover of Troy; grandchildren, Patricia Smith, Andrew Hoover, Rebecca Hoover, David Hoover and Rachel Hoover; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Hoover, Taylor Smith and Eric Hoover; brother, Herbert Hoover of Lebanon, Pa.; and sisters, Carolyn Clinch of Lebanon, Pa., Charlotte Espenshade of Lancaster County, Pa.
He graduated from Miami University, retired from Dayton City Schools as a teacher, was a member of Fairview Brethren In Christ Church, and formerly served as a Newton Board of Education member as well as on the Miami County Board of Education and Upper Valley JVS Board of Education.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Pleasant Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 101 W. Hill St., Pleasant Hill with Pastor Sam Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Jackson-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St., Pleasant Hill.
