Mrs. Joseph Burg passed away at her home in Effingham, Monday, May 30, 1938.
Carrie Reis was born November 7, 1870, at Sublittle, Ill., being at the time of her death 67 years old.
When a little girl she moved with her parents to Bridgewater, Iowa, where Feb. 3, 1890, she became the bride of Joseph F. Burg. Mr. and Mrs. Burg lived in Iowa six years, moving from there to Oklahoma for a residence of twelve years when they came to Kansas. They lived on the Larry Griffin and Bert Bessinger farms one year each and seven years on the John E. Sullivan farm. Twenty-one years ago, the Burgs located in Effingham.
Besides her husband, eight of Mr. and Mrs. Burg's nine children survive. They are John, Mrs. Julia Diebolt, Mrs. Margaret Falk, Joe, Cecelia and Myrtle of Effingham, Roman and Rudolph, of Atchison. Lawrence died April 4, 1925, at the age of 12.
